Testing the assembly that protects your water supply
Backflow is water moving in the wrong direction through a connection. A pressure change can allow water from an irrigation system or other connected equipment to flow toward the drinking-water supply. Backflow prevention assemblies help protect against that reverse flow.
Testing checks the assembly's operation. Repair addresses a problem with it. If you are calling about a leak, replacement, or a previous failed test, mention that when you speak with us so the office can discuss the right scope.
Learn about backflow prevention and repairsWhat to have ready
You do not need to know every technical detail to call. These basics help the office understand your request and identify what still needs to be confirmed.
01
Property and utility
Have the service address and water utility name ready. For a managed property, include the person who can approve the visit.
02
Notice and records
Keep the testing notice, its due date, and any previous report together. Mention whether this is a routine test or a follow-up to a failed result.
03
Assembly information
Share the location, number of assemblies, and any readable make, model, or serial number. A photo is useful if the label is difficult to describe.
04
Access arrangements
Let us know about a locked gate, pets, an indoor assembly, or an on-site contact. Ask whether anyone needs to be present and whether water use will be interrupted.
